mission and vision
Our mission is to bring a sense of community and independence to the people under our care — we believe this is essential for living a fulfilling, happy, and healthy life.
As a state-licensed entity, we’re professionally trained and properly equipped to give the highest quality of care to our residents. We prioritize teaching the skills needed to carry out the tasks to be independent, such as bathing, cooking, and cleaning.
Our vision is a world where compassion is integral to daily life — where everyone, regardless of their ethnicity, disability, gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation, is treated with courtesy, dignity, and respect.
We fully believe that with consistency, hard work, and patience, a fulfilling life can be achieved by any individual.
Our history
Julieta Sicat founded Haven Center of Oregon in 1994 after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology. Since then, she entered the mental health sector and has dedicated her professional life to helping developmentally disabled persons advance in all areas of their lives.
With practical experience working in the mental health sector, Julieta fostered 5 developmentally disabled children in her home while raising her own 2 children. Once these 5 individuals entered adulthood, she recognized that her foster children needed stability and structure. With that in mind, she opened an adult foster home for them to ensure that they would receive the care and support they grew up with and were accustomed to.
It’s Julieta’s dedication to serving and caring for people living with developmental disabilities that led to the creation of Haven Center of Oregon. We’re motivated by the desire to continue what Julieta started — providing a supportive and stable environment where all individuals are given the tools to become self-sufficient.
